“We don’t have to do all of it alone.
We were never meant to.”
- Brené Brown
Lighthouse Counselling Centre is a private clinic that offers individual and small group counselling.
We help those seeking to improve their resilience in mental health and recovery from addiction.
Our services focus on educative counselling, relapse prevention for self-destructive behaviours, and psychosocial rehabilitation through evidence-based practices.
We’ll help you build the support network and social connections essential for a happier, healthier life.
We recognize there is a gap in the transition of care for those struggling with addiction and mental health issues, particularly affecting anglophones here in Montreal.
Our mission is to provide the community with support, and access to counselling, therapy, and wellness services.
We want to restore hope for people and their families, and provide flexible treatment options that actually work for them. We want to reintegrate people back into the community, so they can live fuller lives.
Whether you’re seeking treatment for the first time, you’ve just completed treatment, or you’re somewhere in between, we can help.
Lighthouse is a safe, comfortable environment where we work together to achieve your goals.
We’re also committed to helping families and loved ones understand mental health issues, and overcome the struggles that come with them.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, and not quite sure where to start? That’s where we come in.
Whether you're struggling with addiction or mental wellness, we can help you deal with the associated symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, and other areas of mental health.
At Lighthouse, we take into account your current situation, your needs, and what you’re comfortable with. We’ll talk about what you want to achieve, and work together to help you get there.
In working with addictions, Lighthouse uses “stepped care”, an evidence-based approach that matches the right level of care to your unique needs and situation. Our treatment models are proven to help affect change quickly, reduce symptoms, and increase resiliency.
We’ll help you understand the relationships between your thoughts, your feelings, and your behaviours. By connecting the dots, you’ll develop a self-awareness and learn life skills that empower you to regain control of your life.
Lighthouse is fellowship-positive and informed, but we are not a 12-step program. Our services compliment what you’ll find in fellowship-based meetings, combining recovery skills and life skills.
Our mental health counselling draws on fundamental psychotherapy and counselling approaches that will facilitate insight, compassion and understanding into one's own thoughts and experiences. Our counsellors will work with you to identify a direction to therapy that includes a sensitive approach to addressing your specific emotional, relational, and psychological needs.
We believe in the healing power of a supportive therapeutic community. It’s important to connect with other people who get what you’re going through. That’s why small group therapy sessions are a fundamental part of our services.
There is power in sharing our stories with each other, and in learning from each others’ experiences. Whether you're working through issues related to addiction or other mental health troubles, a group therapy approach can challenge you and help you to explore discomfort and vulnerabilities in a way that encourages supportiveness and trust.
You don’t have to go through this alone. At Lighthouse, you’ll build meaningful connections with other people like you. You’ll receive the support, knowledge, and life skills needed to achieve long term sobriety, and live a happier, healthier life.
For centuries, the lighthouse has provided us guidance and safe harbour when travelling by sea. It is a beacon of light and a symbol of hope.
Yet it also reminds us to slow down. It warns us of dangers ahead: rocks, reefs, and shallow waters in our path.
The lighthouse illuminates the way forward. It empowers us to navigate our way through rough waters, and overcome whatever challenges come our way.
We’re not here to judge.
We understand what you’re going through, and we’re here to help.
